  • Jack Lumley, AEHC Chair

    Jack Lumley is a passionate advocate for high-performance sports, believing that hockey serves as a foundation for developing tomorrow’s leaders. As a former high-performance athlete and an experienced leader of numerous nonprofit boards, Jack brings a unique perspective and understanding of the challenges faced by players, coaches, parents, and administrators.

    Jack is committed to building Airdrie into a premier destination for elite athletes. He strives to create an environment that supports player development, fosters leadership, and ensures that all stakeholders have the tools and resources they need to succeed. His dedication to excellence and vision for the future inspire collaboration and growth, both within the hockey community and beyond.

  • Darcy Campbell, U15 Xtreme Director

    Darcy Campbell was born and raised in Airdrie, where his hockey journey began at the age of four. A trailblazer in Airdrie hockey, Darcy was part of the first Bantam AAA Xtreme team to win Provincials and Western Canadians in the same season.

    He continued his success with two years on the Midget AAA Bisons before joining the Canmore Eagles in the Alberta Junior Hockey League. Darcy’s talent and dedication earned him a spot with the NCAA team in Fairbanks, Alaska, ultimately leading to his debut in the NHL with the Columbus Blue Jackets, making him Airdrie’s first association member to reach the NHL. He furthered his career playing in Europe and various North American leagues.

    Now in his third season as U15AAA Director, Darcy is deeply committed to developing players, coaches, and teams within Airdrie Minor Hockey and the Airdrie Elite Hockey Committee. His passion for the sport and wealth of experience inspire the next generation of hockey talent in Airdrie.

  • Chad Barton, U17 AAA Director

    Chad Barton brings nearly 15 years of dedicated service, experience, and passion for hockey to the Airdrie Elite Hockey Committee.

    Chad has held numerous leadership roles, including Vice President of Pearland, TX Minor Soccer, President of the Nose Creek Swim Association (NCSA) in Airdrie, AMHA Division Coordinator, AA Director, and U17AAA Director for the past three seasons. As a seasoned coach, he has led AMHA teams for five seasons and currently serves as Head Coach of the U15AA Airdrie Lightning.

    With a strong background in business and organizational development, Chad leverages his skills to deliver impactful results, foster growth, and support athletes in achieving excellence. His deep understanding of the sport’s intricacies and commitment to relationship-building ensure the continued success and advancement of elite hockey in Airdrie.

  • Chad Moore, Director U18 AAA

    Chad Moore, a proud Airdrie native, has built a diverse career rooted in athletic excellence and professional achievement. A former high-level hockey player, Chad competed with teams such as the AAA Extreme, AAA Bisons, and Junior Hockey before earning an NCAA scholarship in Wisconsin, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business.

    Returning to Airdrie, Chad established himself in the Energy and Technology industries while channeling his passion for sports into coaching. With experience mentoring athletes from U11 to U20 in hockey and baseball, Chad now brings his expertise and leadership to the Airdrie Elite Hockey Council, helping shape the future of the sport in his community.

  • Matti Paquette, Treasurer

    Matti Paquette is the Treasurer of the Airdrie Elite Hockey Committee (AEHC), where she has contributed her expertise for four years. With over 14 years of involvement in hockey—as a parent of elite-level athletes and a passionate volunteer—Matti is dedicated to supporting the growth of youth sports in Airdrie.

    Professionally, Matti brings a strong background in finance, specializing in budgeting, financial planning, and resource management. Her leadership experience includes serving on the Board of Directors for the Calgary Mustangs Jr A Hockey Team for three years and as U18AA Female Coordinator on the AMHA Board of Directors for two years. She also champions the development of female athletes as a board member for the University of Saskatchewan Softball Team.

    Matti’s commitment to financial transparency and fostering opportunities for all youth ensures the AEHC’s resources are strategically managed to enhance hockey’s future in the community.

    Compensation: Paid Honorarium, Expenses and Paid Coach Certification Upgrades

    Overview:

    Airdrie Minor Hockey Association (AMHA) is a community-based organization whose primary purpose is to provide fair opportunity for positive experiences through a safe and fun environment with strong, progressive, and quality programs for all members of the hockey community. The Airdrie Elite Hockey Committee (AEHC) is responsible for running the Elite hockey program in Airdrie.

    With an anticipation that the U13 AAA pilot program being run in Northern Alberta will be formalized for the 2025/2026 season across Alberta, and that Airdrie will be awarded a U13 AAA team, the AMHA/AEHC is looking to fill the Head Coach position of the U13 AAA Xtreme to begin promptly when we’re awarded a team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day hockey operations of the team and contribute to the overall player development. This position will report to the AEHC Committee Chair and applicable AAA Director and must be open and willing to work with an integrated support team and receive mentorship and feedback that enhances their skillset and development as a coach.

    Responsibilities:

    • Assemble a complete coaching staff

    • Attend the Spring AAA Tryouts to be held in April yearly

    • Coordinate player evaluation and selection in the Spring, and then again in the Fall for the last chance tryouts

    • Lead and plan team practices that build physical and technical skills, enhance hockey IQ, reinforce the learning process, and help build leadership skills

    • Lead and plan off-ice activities that build team culture, camaraderie and enhance leadership skills

    • Develop game plans and lead game day coaching activities

    • Be a role model by setting a good example for players and showing respect for athletes, coaching staff, parents, opponents and officials

    • Build player confidence and self-esteem

    • Have a consistent disciplinary policy for players, appropriate to the age level and communicate to both players and parents to set expectations

    • Attend all scheduled AMHA coach meetings and seminars. Work with the Coach Mentor as assigned by Village Sports

    • Uphold the AMHA policies and procedures

    • Communicate team updates regularly with team stakeholders

    • Submit a yearly plan, mid-way report and year-end report as directed by the AEHC Committee Chair

    • Work with and coordinate the delegation of responsibilities of the assistant coaches, support staff and team manager

    Education & Experience:

    • Development 1

    • Intro to Principles of Checking (previously Checking Skills)

    • Respect in Sport Activity Leader certification

    • 3+ years or equivalent of experience in coaching at a high performance level

    • Previous playing experience at a high level is an asset

    • Clean criminal record check and vulnerable sector check

    Skills:

    • Works well in a collaborative team environment

    • A consummate professional with experience working with youth athletes

    • Strong ability to develop relationships

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

    • Passionate and skilled in fostering an environment of personal and athletic growth for athletes

    • Demonstrates initiative and has a growth mindset

    • Passionate about sport and leaving a positive impact on everyone involved

    HP1 is preferred but not necessary. The successful candidate will have the option for additional development opportunities.

Come cheer on the Airdrie U17AAA Avalanche (2:30pm MST), the Airdrie U15AAA Xtreme (5:15pm MST), and the Airdrie U18AAA CFR Chemicals Bisons as they look to extend their winning seasons!

  • Hockey Day in Canada is coming to Canmore on January 18th featuring your Airdrie U18AAA CFR Chemicals Bisons! Join Ron MacLean and the Hockey Night in Canada crew as we celebrate our great game all across Canada as the Bisons take on one of our biggest rivals, the Calgary United Pacific Projects (NW) Flames at 12pm MST in Canmore! Please come out and show all of Canada just how passionate we are about our Bisons!!
